Guide to Meta Business Suite

To maximize your time and money please follow each step verbatim.

Getting Started

Creating Your Facebook Page

Creating a Facebook page for your band is a vital step toward building an online presence and connecting with your audience. As the parent company for many other social platforms, including Instagram, your Facebook page is still a necessary piece to a modern marketing strategy.

Skip this if you've already established your band's Facebook page.

  1. Log in to your personal Facebook account.
  2. Click on the grid in the top-right corner and under the word "Create" select "Page."
  3. Choose Category “Band/Musician or Band” depending on which you believe best describes your brand.
  4. Name Your Page (Use your band’s full name as the page name. Avoid abbreviations unless it is part of your branding. This helps with searchability.)
  5. Add Your Bio: keep it short, direct, and explosive. What sets you apart in 3-5 words? Emphasize your contact info and any links to your music or your personal website.
  6. Add Your Logo as your profile picture. If you don't have a logo, use your band's name in your chosen font.
  7. Add Your Banner: we recommend using a captivating full band or performance shot.

The Truth About Facebook

The Business of Selling You Reach

Make no mistake - Facebook knows exactly what their business is. They sell you reach. As the number one social media platform, they know the power of their marketing influence - and it's something you shouldn't ignore.

Think of "Meta" like a warehouse building with a solid wall straight down the middle. On one side of the building is a door titled the Meta Business Suite, and on the other side of the building is another door titled Facebook Ads. Now imagine the solid wall down the center of this building has no door access. Meta Business Suite cannot be accessed through Facebook Ads and vice versa. Facebook Ads limits your ability to access your market. No matter how much money you throw at it, it will never have the success rates of a campaign run through the meta business suite

When you attempt to run your marketing campaign directly through your page, you will automatically be using Facebook Ads. If you attempt to "boost your post" you will be using Facebook Ads. With Facebook Ads your posts are limited and throttled in ways you can't control without extra money thrown at it.

Facebook will also use specific language to make it occur as though you are accessing the Meta Business Suite through your Facebook page when in fact - you are not.

To access the full advantage of the Meta Business Suite, you must create a Business Manager Account in addition to your Facebook Page.

Creating Your Business Manager Account

Through Meta Business Suite

Though a couple years old, we find this video extremely helpful even now. Facebook changes rules frequently, but these steps to starting your business manager account remain the same. This video will give you the visual guide for the following steps:

  1. Go HERE and Select "Create an Account." You may be prompted to log-in to your personal Facebook account.
  2. Fill out your information. We recommend using your band's name followed by the word "business."
  3. In the top right corner, Click "Add Assets," If you don't see this button, try clicking on the "Settings" gear in the bottom left corner first.
  4. Under "Social" Select "Facebook Page" and then "Claim an Existing Facebook Page." There is an option to create your page directly in the business suite. We recommend creating your page first, and then adding the existing page into your business account manager.
  5. Click "Add Assets" again and under "Advertising" Select "Ad Account."
  6. If you have used Ads through Facebook Ads, an account was automatically created for you. You would Select "Claim an Existing Ad Account," or if you have never used ads before, Select "Create an Ad Account."
  7. You will have to add your account ID number. To find this number Go HERE, and at the top left of this page you should see either your page name followed by your number, or your number repeated twice. Copy and paste this number into "Ad Account ID."
  8. Click "Add Assets" again and claim any other existing assets you can.

Building Your Team

The Keys to Your Kingdom

Equipping your army is your best chance at breaking through the noise in the music industry and getting your band noticed. Take these steps to add your network, and Find Your Fanbase, into your quiver.

  1. Go HERE and Select "Settings" on the bottom left.
  2. At the top left under "Users" Select "People."
  3. At the top right Select "Invite People."
  4. To add Mike Burt of FIndYourFanbase, use burtmichael12@comcast.net, and Click "Next."
  5. In order for us to build a campaign for you, we will need Full Control Access. Under "Assign Access," you will see "Full Control" and "Everything." Activate "Manage," and Click "Next." We do not recommend giving this access to many people, and we kindly ask that you do not invite us without a prior contract.
  6. Under "Assign Business Assets", Select your band's Page, and Activate "Partial access (business tools and Facebook)," then Click "Next."
  7. Click "Send Invitation."
